The Priory Chapel was built in 1872, with enlargements in 1896 and 1903. The Chapel was designed by Arthur Byrd, a brother of the SSA, who had worked in an architects' firm in England before going to South Africa.

Looking towards the Priory buildings. The Vestry, the small building between the Priory Chapel and Priory House was built in 1896 in memory of Fr Douglas, one of the first members of the Brotherhood of St Augustine.

Churches were also built for outstations, often in remote areas and far away from the main base of Modderpoort. They all followed the layout for the SSM's liturgical style.
The altar is ad orientem, and a tabernacle for the reserved sacrament to the side.
